In addition to Hi-Hog’s adjustable S-Alley and U-Alley you can also consider one of three adjustable straight alley sections. The straight sections are most commonly used as part of a combination alley to create a custom alley made from standard stock products.

Three lengths to choose from
The three standard straight alley sections are 4’-6” long, 7’ long and 9’-3” long. All of these panels can be hung on any of our adjustable alley spreaders (except the U-Alley spreaders).
4'-6" Straight Alley
This is the shortest of the three straight cattle handling alleys.
Item #86 is a 4' long sheeted panel and it is available only in the 66" height. The livestock panel will connect with our stationary alley spreaders, our adjustable S-Alley spreaders or the 'S' side of our U-to-S Alley spreaders.
To turn this alley section into a 4' sorting section, or a palpation cage, replace one or more of the #86 with an item #85.
7' Straight Alley
This is the middle length of the three straight cattle handling alleys available.
The 7′ long panels are available in two heights. Item #250 is 66” high while item #251 is 60” high. These panels will connect with our stationary alley spreaders, our adjustable S-Alley spreaders or the ‘S’ side of our U-to-S Alley spreaders.
If you wish to sort livestock out of this section replace item #250 or #251 with item #1380 or #1375.
9′-3″ Straight Alley
This is the longest length of the three straight cattle handling alleys available. The 9′-3″ long panels are available in two heights. Item #240 is 66” high while item #241 is 60” high. These panels will connect with our stationary alley spreaders, our adjustable S-Alley spreaders or the ‘S’ side of our U-to-S Alley spreaders.

In most situations, where an alley travels in a straight line, the S-Alley would be preferred over a straight sided alley. There are situations, however, where the introduction of a section of adjustable width straight alley can add value to your system. Because Hi-Hog’s alley components are based on a common connector system you are free to combine alley types to get the alley you require.
Below are four examples of situations where adding an adjustable straight alley section can improve your cattle handling system.

Improve animal site lines exiting the tub and entering the cattle working alley
Improve sight lines into the cattle working alley
Sometimes the introduction of a straight section of alley between the crowding tub and curved working alley can provide your livestock with a more welcoming view into the alley. Introducing the straight section in these cases will improve cattle flow and handling efficiency.
Add sorting options to your cattle working alley
Add a straight alley section and sort out of your cattle working alley
Two of Hi-Hog’s straight alley options include a panel with a sorting gate. This will allow you to introduce a sorting section into your alley. Often used to sort out to a calf table or loading chute

Adjust the alley length to fit the system between fixed structures in your working area
A short straight alley section can shift your alley to avoid obstacles
If you have specific measurements that your alley has to fit, then adding a straight alley section may help you reach your target or avoid obstacles.
Improve Cattle Flow
Improve cattle flow with a straight alley transition
When you combine an S-Alley with a U-Alley you can improve flow by adding an adjustable straight alley section between the two curved alleys.
