Hi-Hog’s livestock equipment delivers greater efficiency through better design. Like the S-Alley, the U-Alley was developed by Hi-Hog to take advantage of the instinctive herding behavior of cattle to create a cattle handling alley that flows faster and with less effort.
This compact system is often used where physical space is limited. For best operation, we recommend the U-Alley is set on a level surface.
- Each U-Alley section covers a portion of a curve with an inside diameter of approximately 19'-5" (9'-8.5" radius)
- The interior width of the U-Alley can be adjusted from 18” to 32”
The 9-foot U-Alley lengths can be combined to create a wide range of U-Alley lengths. You may choose to adjust the length of your U-Alley to accommodate a specific number of cattle or if you need your cattle squeeze chute to be facing in a particular direction.
- The curved panels on the outside of the U-alley are 66" high
- The curved panels on the inside of the U-Alley are 60" high

Each of the adjustable U-Alley spreaders are available with or without rolling doors. When including an interior spreader with rolling door be sure to include a walkway transition (item 275) to ensure there are no gaps in your elevated walkway.
Pin the curved inside panels directly to the U-Alley spreaders. The curved outside panels are hung on a track with custom contoured wheels. This allows both the width and length of the outside of the alley to change in one easy motion.
The diameter of the U-Alley curve is large enough to allow your lead animal to see well up the working alley to encourage your animal to continue moving forward.
As your lead animal continues forward the remaining animals, driven by their herding instincts, will follow in behind your lead animal.

Working a U-Alley
The handler should walk in the opposite direction that they want their livestock to travel. This movement through the animals flight zone will trigger the natural behavior of the livestock to move forward.
